Q: Why is the right sidebar (log-in, Activity Stream, etc.) not showing up, or showing up under the middle of the page?

A: Sometimes when using Firefox as your browser, you may unintentionally zoom in too much which causes this issue.  To reset your browser, you need to zoom out.

Zooming Out

  1. At the top of your firefox browser, click View
  2. Click Zoom.
  3. Click Reset.
  4. (You can also use the short-cut and press the command button at the same time as the number 0).

Q:  How do I Edit My Profile?

A: By filling out your profile as fully as possible, you allow other members to know more about you and are able to find other members who share yoursame interests, likes, and passions for the sea!  There is an area within your profile with ‘basic’ information such as your name, gender, and location.
There is also an ‘enhanced profile’ that includes some information that tells a little bit more about who you are. You have privacy controls to determine how much of this information you want to share and who you want to share it with.

Edit Profile:

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile).
  2. On the Profile page, click on ProfilePublic will be highlighted, which shows you what information other members can see.  You
    can also click on any of the keywords on this page to find friends with the same information listed in their profile!
  3. Click on Edit Profile.  Here you can edit your basic PFTS (Passion For The Sea) profile information.
  4. Click on Enhanced Registration to include more comprehensive profile information.
  5. 5. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Q: How do I Change My Profile Picture/Avatar?

A: Your profile picture is what members see as you travel the site.  It shows up with your username when you post something or send someone a message.

Upload or Change Profile Picture/Avatar

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile.)
  2. On the Profile page, click Profile.
  3. Click Change Avatar.
  4. Place your cursor in the box and click Browse.  You can then choose an image from your computer.
  5. Once you have chosen an image and click on it it will show up in the box.  Click Upload Image and your image will appear.
  6. You can crop your photo to the best size by moving the grey box using your cursor.  Once you are happy with the way it looks (view in the preview box on the right side of your screen).  Click Crop Image.
  7. If you would like to delete your current profile picture/avatar, Click Delete My Avatar.

Q: How do I Change My Password?

A: You can change your password at anytime by taking the following steps:

Change Password:

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile.)
  2. On the Profile page, click Settings.
  3. Enter your New Password in that field
  4. Enter your new password again in the Repeat New Password field.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Q: How Do I Set My Email Notifications?

A: There are two types of email notifications, general email notifications and Group notifications.

Change Email Notifications (General Email):

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile.)
  2. On the Profile page, click Settings.
  3. Click on Notifications.
  4. Click on the radio buttons under Yes or No to indicate whether or not you would like to be notified for each activity listed.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Change Email Notifications (Group Email):

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile.)
  2. On the Profile page, click Settings.
  3. Click on Notifications.
  4. At the bottom of the page click on My Groups.
  5. Click on one of the Groups listed.
  6. At the top of the Group page, a message “Your email status is….” Will appear, click change and choose from the list how often your would like to receive email from that particular Group.
    (Note:  You can also make changes to your Group Email Notifications at the top of any Group from the Groups page.)

Q: How Do I Request a “Friend”?

A: You’ve both joined Passion For The Sea, so you’ve already got that in common!  Now you can “friend” anyone on the site that shares your interests, or lives in your area or in an area you want to visit, and learn more about the best boating, fishing, etc.

To search for a friend, in that area by going to the Members section, and at the top, right hand side of the Members Directory page, and selecting a state or province from the drop down menu.  You can also narrow your search for members by zip code in the “search by zip code, state or topic” box on the top of the right hand sidebar by entering the zip code, selecting Members from the drop down menu and hitting “Go”.

Once you’ve found someone, click on the Add Friend button beside their name.  A friend request will be sent for approval.

Q: How Do I Approve or Accept a Friendship Request?

A: Is another member clicks Add Friend, a friendship request will be sent to your profile page.  You may also be alerted via email depending on your email notification settings.

Accepting a Friendship Request

  1. Click on My Profile on the top nav bar (You can also click on your username or profile picture at any time to take you to your profile.)
  2. On the Profile page, click Friends.
  3. Click on Requests to view any active friendship requests and choose to accept or decline that member as a friend.
