Suggest joining as crew at Galveston Bay Cruising Association. I found significant opportunities there. Also, see my profile, please, for those with developed seamanship skills interested in an adventure.

I am weighing the cost options of (1) sailing from New Orleans to West Palm Beach or (2) having my sailboat hauled from Tulsa to West Palm in February 2011. Anyone have experience sailing the gulf coast around the tip?

If I decide to sail instead of truck, I will need crew to help with the trip.. changing out crew (some or all) at port calls every other day is anticipated.. BTW, she’s a 35′ Ketch, so you can look forward to a smooth cruise..

You did not mention how long you intend to stay in WPB or if move is permanent. The Gulf can be nasty in February, not to mention the gulf stream past Key West. I think your best option is T-R-U-C-K. I have sailed on west coast of FL for thirty years and made that trip several times.
