“Discover” The Cook Islands

12:11 pm in At the Helm by Captain

Tucked away, way, way away, in the Pacific half way between New Zealand and Hawaii are the Cook Islands.  Consisting of 15 islands, these remote, unspoiled, charming slices of paradise are made up of a mix of coral atolls and volcanic islands.  The gorgeous climate, white sand, and crystal blue lagoons have been calling to explorers since the first Polynesian ancestors were guided by the stars and expertly navigated their double hulled canoes to find the Cook Islands.

Whether you are looking for rest and relaxation, to continue the tradition and canoe around the islands, to scuba dive and explore the beautiful waters, sail, or try your hand at deep sea, light tackle or spear fishing, the Cook Islands offer something for every lover of the sea.  There are no high rise hotels and the peaceful, laid back people of the Cook Islands add to the magic.

Here are a few sites we found if you would like to learn more, and start planning your trip.  If you’ve been, please feel free to comment below with any stories you have to share or recommendations!
