Joey Has Rough Start to PAA Series Season
Hendersonville, TN – The first Professional Anglers Association tournament of the season did not go as planned for Joey Nania. After weighing in one legal fish on the first day he was able to rally day two for a small limit, however based on his pre fishing experience the issue was not going to be catching a limit…but rather how big a limit would be needed to win. As they say, the best laid plans sometimes fail and that was the case for Joey on Old Hickory Lake. This was the first time Joey had fished Old Hickory and he liked the type of fishing and cover that was available however the fish just seemed to turn the other way when he approached. “I learned a ton not only about Old Hickory but about fishing at this level.” Joey commented, “That experience is really going to continue to be helpful. I am excited and know my time for a win will come.”
Steve Kennedy had three solid days to take the victory winning his second PAA event in as many years.
Promotionally speaking the week was a big success. Joey was billed as one of four featured angler on 50,000 promotional flyers for the event and gave seminars at Bass Pro Shops in Nashville Wednesday evening and mid day Saturday. Joey on the event: “The people were really into not just fishing but finding out more about how I got involved in the sport. The events were well attended and I really enjoyed visiting with the fishing fans and sharing the joy of fishing. I even got to sing a duet with featured singing guest Ellie May Kay during the angler meet and greet dinner and concert Sunday night. No one solid from Nashville approached me with a contract so I plan to continue to pursue my fishing career!”
Next up: Sylacauga Marine – Big Bucks Bass Trail tournament on Lake Mitchell in the Coosa System Sunday May 20.
