The picture was taken on my 1995 Hunter 40.5 while at anchor in Lighthouse Bay of Sand Island in the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. The view is toward the north shore of Minnesota.

I would love to see more women sailors. In the 20 years I have been sailing one thing I have noticed is the lack of enthusiastic women sailors. I have raced but now mostly cruise. There are lots of topics to cover along with encouraging each other. I look forward to future posts!

Sheila-I have been sailing for almost 20 years now. When I started I was scared of water and overwhelmed by sailing. Try to go sailing with other sailors and ask lots of questions. If there is a local racing fleet in your area join it and race. Ask lots of questions. Sail every chance you [...]

Thank you Sandra, that is what I am now doing, I’m trying to face my fears and move on. I am taking a sailing course which has an awesome female instructor. She has been of great help, and likes to race as well. I have noticed there are not a lot of female sailors out there. I think thats a shame as it is so much fun!
