National Safe Boating Council Launches New Awareness Video to Encourage Safe and Responsible Boating

NSBC Provides Resources Through ‘Wear It’ Campaign to Remind the Public to Wear a Life Jacket During the Autumn and Winter Months

WASHINGTON, DC–(October 19, 2011) –  Did you know that according to the U.S. Coast Guard, of those who died in boating accidents in 2010, almost three-fourths of all accident victims drowned — and more than 85 percent of those who drowned were not wearing a life jacket? Most boaters know to have a life jacket on board for every passenger on their vessel. But having them on board and wearing them could mean the difference between a great day on the water and a potential tragedy. That’s why the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is encouraging the public to join the ‘Wear It!’ campaign, a fun way to remind family and friends about the importance of boating safety, education, and to help save lives!
