From France to Turkey By Canoe

May 28, 2012 in At the Helm

John van der Stricht shared this image from a recent canoe trip from France to Turkey.  Here he is on the Loire River in Saumur, France, and says, “We were traveling upstream on the Loire for three weeks in low water (translated: had to drag the boat quite a bit). 13 hour days of upstream river travel on the Loire frequently merited a reward from the surrounding vineyards of Bourgueil and Chinon.”

The 2012 Rolex Miami OCR regatta was the first World Cup Event of the year and being in the USA made it all that more important to the team.  We did 2 weeks of hard training getting back into the gym and working on the boat from technique to setup.  We identified some things in Perth that were crucial to getting right over this 2 week period so we could make sure to have everything set not only for the World Cup in Miami but also for some new equipment that is currently in production in Europe for this coming spring season.  Read the rest of this entry →

Ivan Gaspic – February 2012

March 3, 2012 in Team Sperry Blog

My hometown Split was under snow for two weeks which is the first time in more than 200 years. Water was out of reach as temperatures were well below 0C for few weeks. In my pictures you can see the amount of the snow but unfortunately I didn’t make any videos. Read the rest of this entry →
