Daily summary: The Medal Round racing concluded ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyères with top American performance of 4th place in the Women’s 470 class by Annie Haeger and Briana Provancha. This event was the final regatta of the 2012-2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup series. Full results are posted on the event’s website.

Annie Haeger
(East Troy, Wis.) and Briana Provancha (San Diego, Calif.) went into the medal race in 7th overall with the goal of standing on the podium. With two scores that are doubled and non-excludable to the overall points score, there was room to move up.

Daily summary
: On the second and final day of the qualifying round at ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyères, conditions were light making it challenging for all racing. U.S. sailors advanced to the gold fleet in Women’s 470, 49er, Women’s RS:X and Laser, where fleets are split. Day 3 will see the fleets start their results total from their cumulative result to date. Performance highlights:
• Making a turnaround to his previous day’s performance was Caleb Paine (San Diego, Calif.) in the Finn class where he was black flagged in race 1 and 23rd in the other. His race results of 2-4 put him in 9th overall, and into the gold fleet. Read the rest of this entry →

Daily Summary: Going into the medal races on Saturday, the U.S. has five entries, with top contenders Annie Haeger and Briana Provancha, who are currently 5th overall in the Women’s 470. Sydney Bolger and Sarah Lihan will join them, as will Stuart McNay and Dave Hughes in the Men’s event. Also competing in the medal races are Sarah Newberry and John Casey in the Nacra 17 and Farrah Hall in Women’s RS:X. All are scheduled to sail two races, which are worth double points. Racing begins at 10:45am Palma de Mallorca local time and can be followed live on the event’s website.
